It is very easy to make Banana bread. Just be careful to NOT mix the dough too much. Be sure to follow the instructions below about folding in the flour..</p >

Heat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit – See our Fahrenheit Celsius conversion chart

Start by cutting two ripe bananas into slices. Reason? It makes it easier to cream them as you do in the next step.

Put the sliced bananas, 1 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup of butter or margarine, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and vanilla into a bowl and cream them. You are finished when there are no lumps.

Sift together two cups all purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda and 1 teaspoon baking powder.

Prepare 1 cup of chopped walnuts. If you bought walnut halves, chop them into smaller pieces. Don’t chop them into little bits. You want to know there is a nut there. It is just that a walnut half is a little large.

Line a loaf pan with baking paper. A standard bread baking pan is fine. 21 x 11 x 7 deep cm is fine.

With your oven at temperature and walnuts prepared, add the flour to the creamed mix.

FOLD the flour in just until it is totally mixed – you see no dry spots.

DO NOT MIX it or it will get tough!

Add the walnuts and fold them in until uniformly dispersed.

Add the mix to the loaf pan and bake for about an hour.

It is done when you poke it with a chopstick or other wooden stick and the stick comes out dry.

For gifts, you can use smaller pans to make a few smaller breads.

Regardless of size, let them cool and wrap in clear foil. You can keep them wrapped in the refrigerator for about three days. Then gift wrap them.
